Concept Amenities CEO unveils life-saving Soap Aid initiative
Melbourne, Australia July 24th, 2012 – Concept Amenities, a global leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guest bath amenities, has established an independent charity known as Soap Aid. Aimed at saving millions of lives worldwide, Soap Aid will address one of the most critical needs facing our planet today—the lack of soap in third world countries—resulting in millions of unnecessary deaths; more often children.
Concept Amenities plans to unveil this ambitious humanitarian effort, during a luncheon for Hospitality leaders, at the 12th Annual Australia, New Zealand, & Pacific Hotel Industry Conference (ANZPHIC) July 25th- 27th at the Hilton Sydney. Literature will also be available at the stand—number 11.
“Across the globe, 2.6 billion impoverished people lack adequate sanitation1,” explains Michael Matulick, chief executive officer of Concept Amenities. “It is estimated that 1.8 million children under the age of 5 die each year due to hygiene related illnesses such as acute respiratory infection and diarrheal disease. However, by the simple act of hand-washing with a bar of soap we could potentially reduce the number of these cases by over 40 per cent.”
That, says Matulick, is where the hospitality industry can make a huge difference: “Every day, thousands of hotels around the world discard millions of pieces of soap, which often ends up in already overflowing landfills. By collecting waste soap and reprocessing it, our industry can help make a significant contribution to two critical objectives—protecting the environment and potentially saving countless human lives."
To ensure the success of its initiative, Concept Amenities is currently in discussions, with a number of charities and distribution companies, to assist in soap collection from hotel properties and proper distribution, of the reprocessed soap, to the areas of greatest need.
It is important to note, however, that that unlike similar relief efforts, Concept Amenities plans to breakdown the used soap remove impurities and recast the soap into perfect news bars that will bear the Soap Aid logo.
In addition to rolling out the project in the company’s native Australia and gradually expanding to other global regions, Concept Amenities is also striving to raise public awareness of sanitary conditions in impoverished nations and encouraging hospitality providers around the world to contribute to Soap Aid by recycling their guest amenities.
“Soap Aid is a unique opportunity for Concept Amenities to remain true to its core values of promoting eco-consciousness and improving the quality of life on our planet,” says Matulick. “With the help of others in our industry, we can save millions of lives together.”

Concept Amenities working with State Government to add manufacturing jobs
Melbourne, Australia August 7th , 2012 – Concept Amenities, a global leader in the supply of environmentally responsible hotel guest amenities hosted Manufacturing, Exports and Trade Minister, Richard Dalla-Riva and Lorraine Wreford MLA, State Member of Parliament for Mordialloc district on Friday. The Minister was interested to hear about the success of the company; plans to reinvigorate and expand manufacturing operations at the Braeside plant; the addition of new, innovative machinery and cutting edge technology.
“Innovative businesses, like Concept Amenities, are the backbone of the economy and important for continued local growth,” explains Michael Matulick, chief executive officer of Concept Amenities, “More importantly, manufacturing is critical for export growth in Victoria, and Australia in general, with regard to job creation and cumulative gross domestic product.”
Matulick goes on to explain “We are looking at current government programs that can assist us by supporting the introduction of new technologies, the development of new markets and ways we can further improve energy efficiencies within our manufacturing operations that support our long-term growth initiatives.”
Wreford supported Matulick’s comments: “The Victorian Coalition Government is working extremely hard with manufacturers. We all know the Australian economy is not at its best right now, with confidence falling, and barriers like the high dollar making it tough for exporters. Then there’s carbon tax,” Says Wreford. “Manufacturing is vitally important to this region and Melbourne relies heavily on the jobs created in suburbs across Kingston.”
Congratulations were also expressed by the visiting party with regard to the recently unveiled Soap Aid program, which involves the collecting and recovery of discarded soap from hotels to reprocess into new bars and distribute to those most in need throughout the world.
The independent charity will help address one of the most critical needs facing third world countries today—the lack of sanitary conditions. This ambitious humanitarian effort is aimed at saving millions of lives worldwide. “Soap Aid is a unique opportunity for Concept Amenities to remain true to its core values of promoting eco-consciousness and improving the quality of life on our planet,” says Matulick. “With the help of others in our industry, we can save millions of lives together.”

“What sets Concept Amenities apart from other companies that just talk about their environmental philosophy is that we actually live and breathe it,” says CEO Michael Matulick. “We have Standard Operating Procedures for energy, water and waste management in place and a dedicated “Green Team” that continually reviews and improves our company’s carbon footprint. We also offer a complimentary Hotel Green Guide, with quick facts and tips, to our many hotel partners globally”.
“As in years past, we’re proud to be a part of the Earth Hour movement,” adds Matulick, “and we encourage our many hotel partners around the world to join in this important effort to raise public awareness of climate change and the urgent need to initiate environmentally sound solutions."
An environmentally sensitive approach extends to every aspect of Concept Amenities’ comprehensive array of exclusive branded hotel guest toiletries and environmentally friendly accessories. Soaps are moisture rich and formulated from vegetable based ingredients. Liquids are blended from high quality biodegradable ingredients and enriched with natural and organic extracts. Plastic packaging both biodegrades in landfill and is recyclable to ensure it is as eco-responsible as possible.
“Whether its evocative new fragrances, sensual textures, exotic design or vibrant colors, we consider everything that can enhance our bath and body products to create unique and desirable experiences,” says Matulick. “

The Imperial Hotel: Where four-star luxury and sustainability blend to create memorable guest experiences
Melbourne, Australia March 27, 2012 – Elegance, excellence and environmental stewardship – those are the words that best describe The Imperial Hotel, Llandudno. Renowned for its exquisite Victorian façade, four-star accommodations, superior service and stunning views of Llandudno Bay, the Imperial is the largest quality seafront hotel in Northern Wales.
A member of Classic British Hotels; Best Loved Hotels and Britain’s Finest—The Hotel Imperial is also one of the most eco-friendly—furnishing its 98 spacious en-suite bedrooms with Eco.Fresh®, a nourishing range of bath & body cosmetics by Concept Amenities, a leading global supplier of environmentally responsible guest amenities.
“Sustainability is hugely important to The Imperial Hotel. We initiated our environmental policy back in 1998, long before green issues were in fashion,” explains Public Relations Manager Pip Cockeram. “The hotel is fully committed to planet stewardship and our environment policy covers all facets of hotel operations from local produce and recycling through to water conservation and green electricity”.
“As active members of ‘Wales the True Taste,’ we take pride in using local, seasonal and market-fresh produce,” says Cockeram. “Meats we purchase have full traceability and the highest ethical criteria with regard to feed and rearing. All eggs, chickens and turkey used are free-range and pork is farm assured. Where possible we use organic produce. Our menus contain supplier assurances that all products are free of SM soya and maize products. We are also a staunch supporter of Fairtrade coffee.”
In terms of water conservation, The Imperial Hotel has installed meters that allow staff to measure water consumption and set targets for reduction. In addition, the hotel’s swimming pool is ozone treated, enabling less chlorine to be used which is safer for guests’ eyes and better for children.
The hotel also uses electricity that utilizes the natural energy flows of the earth – wind, solar, hydro, wave and tidal power. Bedrooms are equipped with key card controls that automatically switch off power supply to the room when not in use and all floors are fitted with sensors which switch on the lights when activated. Low energy light bulbs are used throughout the hotel wherever practical.
Plus, the hotel recycles paper, glass, cardboard, light bulbs, batteries and cooking oil for use as bio-fuel locally and it is currently sourcing recycling options for plastics. Overnight guests are encouraged to reuse towels, and all ink cartridges and toners are passed on to St. Kentigern Hospice and Palliative Care Centre in St. Asaph.
“Eco.Fresh® ticks all the right boxes for us with regard to personal care products,” says Cockeram. “They meet our guest-nurturing standards, satisfy our environmental policies with biodegradable packaging and ensure our four-star luxury hotel has a befitting range of products.”
With its invigorating, citrus-fragrant ingredients the complete Eco.Fresh range of guest amenity essentials are designed to cater to all personal needs. Liquids and soaps have been formulated with nourishing ingredients to maintain moisture for healthy skin and hair and are available in a variety of sizes allowing the option to select the right fit to suit your specific needs.
An environmentally sensitive approach extends to every aspect of the hotel toiletries. All plastic packaging is recyclable and biodegrades in landfill; leaving nothing harmful to the environment behind.

Hotel Impala brings Mediterranean magic to South Beach with the help of Jean-Michel Cousteau
Melbourne, Australia March 12, 2012 –Nestled in the heart of the Art Deco district of South Beach is a discreet getaway where Old World charm meets the chic ambiance of a vibrant Miami Beach—with guest bath amenities that offer travelers the ultimate in sensory indulgences.
Welcome to the newly redesigned Hotel Impala, a Mediterranean style boutique hotel hidden from the bustling activities of its urban surroundings. To reach it, one strolls under an archway and through a landscaped walkway and courtyard, past an elegant fountain. Once inside, it is like being transported into another world.
According to General Manager Christelle Tropina, the property was recently acquired by Anthony Santini, a native of the French island of Corsica. That would explain the hotel’s romantic décor, including an Italian mosaic of the sun that graces the lobby floor and comfortable rooms that feature wrought iron fixtures, wood furniture and luxury bathrooms with colorful coral rock.
“Our design and décor was originally intended for the Versace Mansion,” explains Tropina. “It was a gift to the Impala by (the late) Gianni Versace and the redesign is 100% Italian style.”
Appropriately, rooms at the Hotel Impala have been furnished with the Jean-Michel Cousteau range of guest amenities provided by Concept Amenities, a global leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guest bath amenities. This signature collection of nourishing bath and body products – named after the famed ocean explorer and filmmaker -- has been inspired by the beauty of the oceans. Each formulation is enriched with 100% organic seaweed extract and infused with the aroma essences of apples, coconuts and florals.
“We know his foundation – The Ocean Futures Society – the chapter based in Italy,” says Tropina. “Our owner is from the Mediterranean and supports the many initiatives Jean-Michel Cousteau undertakes to protect his beloved native sea. For Hotel Impala, there is a sentimental value attached to providing these products in our guestrooms. Pampering our guests, with the finest amenities, remains a top propriety and we couldn’t think of a better gift to our visitors than Jean-Michel Cousteau’s bath and body care line.”
This unique range of amenities, from Concept Amenities’ Luxury Collections, was recently recognized with the Editors Choice Award at the International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show and Boutique Design New York. Designed to enhance the in-room guest experience, the Jean-Michel Cousteau collection is a superb example of our planet stewardship with nourishing ingredients and packaging that biodegrades in landfill and is recyclable—a win-win for the environment.
For nearly 30 years, Concept Amenities has been an innovator in providing the hospitality industry with the best of both worlds – environmentally responsible products and amenities that entice and delight hotel guests.
But according to Michael Matulick, CEO at Concept Amenities, guest amenities can be so much more than just toiletries: “We’re not just a supplier for the hospitality industry. We’re a trusted partner who plays an integral role in shaping our customers’ brand experiences. We are intrinsically linked to the creation of memorable guest experiences.”
An environmentally sensitive approach extends to every aspect of these products. Soaps are moisture rich and formulated from vegetable based ingredients. Liquids are blended from high quality biodegradable ingredients and enriched with natural and organic extracts. Packaging is constantly reviewed to ensure it is as eco-responsible as possible.
“Whether its evocative new frag
rances, sensual textures, exotic tastes or engaging sounds, we consider everything that can enhance our bath and body products to create unique guest experiences,” says Matulick. “

Concept Amenities goes paraben-free to meet consumer demand
Consumers today want their bath and body products free of unwanted preservatives and additives—even at the hotel level. Concept Amenities, a global leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guest bath amenities, is prepared to meet that demand by reformulating all of its brands to be paraben-free – and hoteliers around the globe couldn’t be happier.
When Concept Amenities developed a parabens-free formulation called Eartherapy – a nourishing line of hair and body care spa products – it was so well received by clients and guests that the company decided to change its formulas across all brands.
Parabens are a synthetically produced class of chemicals used as preservatives primarily for their bacterial and fungicidal properties. They can be found in shampoos, commercial moisturizers, and other personal care products. However, they aren’t natural – a factor that weighed heavily in the decision to reformulate all of Concept Amenities’ brands.
“That’s one of the reasons we developed Eartherapy,” explains Michael Matulick, managing director at Concept Amenities. “We’re committed to providing our clients and their guests with only the purest, finest formulations created from natural ingredients. By reformulating all our brands to be parabens-free, we are taking the lead in providing truly natural and environmentally responsible products to the hospitality industry.”
Among the many hospitality providers who use Eartherapy are the NU Hotel in Brooklyn, New York and The Mint Group, which offers affordable luxury accommodations in beach front and city locations in Queensland and Victoria including Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Melbourne.
Concept Amenities is also the preferred guest amenity supplier for Choice Hotels Australasia (CHA). CHA and Concept Amenities are in the process of implementing a new range of ERP soaps and liquids at CHA’s 280 hotels in Australia and New Zealand.
“These soaps will not only be parabens-free, but also 100% biodegradable in both products and packaging and will enable our network of hotels around Australia to have a point of difference on their competitors,” says Senior Franchise Services Support Manager Vince Coffano. “We know that our hotels and guests are asking for these amenities and CHA is certainly committed to getting our environmental message out there making them available to our guests.”

Allergic travelers find relief at hotel check-in
More and more people today suffer from allergies, in part, because of the over abundance of chemicals in our lives. In fact, states Web MD, the more intense and repetitive the exposure to an allergen and the earlier in life it occurs, the more likely it is that an allergy will develop. For travelers this can be particularly odious as hotels rooms can be rife with pollutants that can trigger a myriad of symptoms and sleepless nights. The problem is so widespread that thirty-eight percent of hotels now offer some kind of allergy-friendly service in guest rooms, a 14 percent increase in the last two years, according to the 2010 Lodging Survey prepared for the American Hotel and Lodging Association by STR, a hotel research company1.
To help address skin allergy sufferers growing need for relief, Concept Amenities, offers hotel guests an alternative—Ideology®—a unique range of dermatologically tested2 hypoallergenic hotel toiletries.
Ideology liquids and soaps, specially created using low-allergen raw materials, are free from petrochemicals, sulfates, artificial colors and added fragrances for a truly gentle, yet effective, cleansing experience. Products in the range include: Cleansing Hand Wash, Purifying Body Wash, Nourishing Shampoo, Hydrating Conditioner and Freedom Body Lotion.
Ideology is available in pre-packed kits, for hotels who want an immediate solution, on hand, for allergic guests. The kit, suitably packaged for travel in a chic zippered bag, comes complete with airline compliant inner bag for 2oz liquids. “We’re in the business of creating naturally better guest experiences”, states Gary Coward, president of sales at Concept Amenities. “Ideology is one more solution hotels can offer guests to create that sense of well-being, away from home”. Concept Amenities encourages hotels to feature Ideology, on their website. “Guests can tick a box, when making their reservation, and a kit will be waiting at check-in”, concludes Coward.

Complimentary Green Guide helps hotels become environmentally friendly
There’s a growing trend among worldwide travelers to seek out environmentally friendly hotels and accommodation providers. Clearly, being green not only elevates the guest experience, it’s also good business.
But transforming your property into an eco-friendly oasis is easier said than done. To help hospitality providers meet that challenge, Concept Amenities – a leading supplier of environmentally responsible quality guest amenities – has created an indispensable booklet of useful information and handy hints designed to help your property go green.
The informative and reader-friendly Green Guide explains what it takes to be environmentally responsible, how to create a green committee within your organization, and offers eight steps to setting up an effective green team at your property. The fact-filled guide also reveals the significant differences between ordinary plastics and biodegradable guest amenities that help to reduce landfill levels and environmental impact.
The importance of your property being environmentally responsible cannot be overstated. “If you don’t start to develop a philosophy in your hotel to be green, you will start losing business,” warns Michael Matulick, CEO at Concept Amenities. “And, there will be a far greater cost when you try to play catch up.”
Matulick stresses the importance of courting a new generation of hotel guests who seek out properties with a green component. “They’re far smarter,” says Matulick. “They’re not interested in contributing to the abuse of this planet. They will be the decision makers who are driven to properties that have a sustainable consciousness.”
Complimentary copies of the Green Guide will be available to Hoteliers who register at the Concept Amenities booth (#1581) at the upcoming ISSA/Interclean trade show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida on November 9-12, and at the upcoming International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show at the Jacob K. The collection also includes a dental kit; shave set; grooming kit and shower cap. A molded amenities tray; plush his and her slippers and a travel bag also compliment the line.
The ultra-modern packaging – featuring square clear bottles, embossed soaps, and accessories in white boxes with black text – is manufactured with a proprietary organic additive that renders plastic fully biodegradable in landfill conditions. This is an important attribute, considering 5.5 billion hotel toiletry bottles and caps are disposed in landfill every year.
The choice of French Connection Bathroom for O2’s Priority Moments program is consistent with the company’s commitment to sustainability. Working with environmental and socially aware organizations such as Carbon Trust, BITC, Forum for the Future and Global Action Plan, O2 is actively embedding sustainability into its products and services. In the last year, for example, the company has reduced paper point of sale material by 20% and added an additional 10% to its stores’ refit budgets.
“French Connection’s choice to partner with Concept Amenities was based on our shared corporate social responsibility policies,” explains Michael Matulick, managing director at Concept Amenities. “We both seek to collaborate with companies who provide ecological solutions that lessen our impact on the environment. We couldn’t be more pleased and excited that O2 has decided to offer French Connection Bathroom to its loyal customers.”

Concept Amenities steps up to aid the Birthing Kit Foundation
Concept Amenities, a global leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guestroom toiletries, recently made a significant show of support by contributing to the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia).
The not-for-profit non-government organisation is dedicated to improving conditions for women who give birth at home, in developing countries, by providing birthing kits and education in clean birthing practices.
Every 90 seconds, a woman dies of complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. An estimated 385,000 women die annually in childbirth, often from preventable infections acquired during childbirth -- thus, the need for clean birthing kits.
The Foundation’s birthing kits contain six basic items including a plastic sheet, two gloves, a sterile scalpel blade, three cords, five gauze squares, and – most importantly – soap. Thus far, Concept Amenities has donated some 16,000 bars of soap for the birthing kits.
According to Michael Matulick, chief executive officer of Concept Amenities, the company’s contributions on behalf of The Birthing Kit Foundation are consistent with its core values. “We are relentless about making this a better world,” says Matulick. “We actively champion causes that help the environment, and our fellow man, because we prefer positive action to simply espousing feel-good theories. If we can help save lives in the process, then we can truly make a difference.”

Cousteau tapped as BLLA CEO Panel moderator for discussion on “State of the Industry” in Hospitality Sector
Melbourne, Australia August 31, 2011 – Famed explorer, environmentalist and filmmaker Jean-Michel Cousteau will be a featured guest at this year’s Hospitality Design Boutique Exposition & Conference to be held in the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association (BLLA) Pavilion at the Miami Beach Convention Center September 13-14.
Mr. Cousteau is partnering with Concept Amenities and Maricoid to introduce a carefully crafted environmental collection of bath and body care products for planet-savvy hotel guests across the world. This unique collection – Jean-Michel Cousteau by Maricoid – is inspired by the beauty and wonders of the oceans and reflects Cousteau’s life-long commitment to the environment.
Apart from attending the exclusive global launch of the new line at Concept Amenities’ booth in the BLLA Pavilion at 10 a.m. on September 14, Mr. Cousteau will also be signing copies of his book, My Father, The Captain. Select members of the press will receive a signed book along with a set of the guest amenity samples.
Mr. Cousteau will also serve as the BLLA CEO Panel moderator for a discussion of the “State of the Industry” in the Hospitality Sector, where he will address specific questions including environmental issues in hospitality.
Eighteen months in the making, the Jean-Michel Cousteau collection is the brainchild of Maricoid, an innovative Australian skincare brand. Pure organic marine ingredients are used from Marinova, an Australian biotechnology company which researches marine plants for use in medical, nutritional and skin care applications.
The son of legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, Jean-Michel founded Ocean Futures Society – a non-profit marine conservation and education organization – in 1999 to carry on his father’s pioneering work. He serves as a global diplomat for the environment, and has produced more than 80 films and television program including the recent award-winning television series Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Adventures for PBS.
For decades, Cousteau and his team have conducted the Ambassadors of the Environment education program in more than seven countries. And he has lent his name and scientific expertise to the design of numerous green hotels around the world – most notably the Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort.
It is only fitting this devoted champion of the environment has now joined forces with Concept Amenities – a world leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guest amenities – to create a new, eco-friendly line of guest amenities.
“Like Jean-Michel Cousteau, our commitment to environmental research stems from the belief that we can make a solid contribution towards the improvement of environmentally friendly consumer products,” says Michael Matulick, managing director at Concept Amenities. “In fact, this is the world’s first global product launch that addresses and helps solve the problem of plastic wastage in the hospitality industry.”
The branded Jean-Michel Cousteau by Maricoid collection has been designed with distinctive features that include:
Paraben free liquids and soaps specially formulated with 100% organically certified seaweed extract from pristine Tasmanian waters.
Biodegradable packaging with artwork that softly mirrors a love of the ocean.
A comprehensive line of liquids, soaps and accessories to compliment any luxury hotel accommodation and suit all guest bathroom amenity needs. These include nourishing shampoo, hydrating conditioner, soothing body lotion and relaxing body wash in 1.4 fluid ounce sizes.
Vegetable based soaps contain raw materials sourced from established plantations. Moisturising lotion features grapeseed oil and organic aloe vera extract. Fragrance notes include traces of tropical coconut and apple, and sweet florals.
And all ingredients and packaging components are biodegradable.
“Our planet is a living organism,” explains Cousteau. “We have the capacity to design our own future, and bring our values and actions in line with ecological necessities. This is the commitment we need to make to the world, now.”

Concept Amenities is a recognised world leader in the supply of guest amenities that deliver on quality, luxury, style and environmental solutions. We’ve built our business through understanding our client’s business, their guests and their brand.
Far from being simply the purveyors of amenity products, we are intrinsically linked to the creation of memorable guest experiences. This mindset provides a clear focus for who we are and what we do best.
While our goal is delivering the ultimate in sensory indulgences, we do this in a manner that is fully aligned with our values and the positive role we perceive we should be playing in the world in which we live.
In sync with the hospitality industry we are strongly conscious of the impact we have on the environment and the growing eco-consciousness of guests. This is enhanced with ERP—the leading benchmark for Environmentally Responsible Products—which is biodegradable, and recyclable, with a care for the environment.
Responsible solution to landfill waste offered with Jean-Michel Cousteau by Maricoid
It’s a sobering statistic: Despite the best efforts of green teams around the world, 95% of all items disposed of in hotel rooms end up in landfill. That includes some 5.5 billion hotel toiletry bottles per year.Leave it to Jean-Michel Cousteau – son of legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and founder of the Ocean Futures Society – to enlist an effective solution.
The famed explorer, environmentalist and filmmaker has partnered with Concept Amenities and Maricoid to introduce a carefully crafted environmental collection of bath and body care products. This unique, branded collection – Jean-Michel Cousteau by Maricoid – is inspired by the beauty and wonders of the oceans and reflects Cousteau’s life-ling commitment to the environment.
The comprehensive line of liquids, soaps and accessories contains not only organic and biodegradable ingredients formulated by Marcoid, but biodegradable packaging from Concept Amenities that is eco-friendly as well. The plastic packaging components completely biodegrade in landfill to CO2, water and humus, leaving nothing that’s harmful to the environment behind.
“Our planet is a living organism,” explains Cousteau. “We have the capacity to design our own future, and bring our values and actions in line with ecological necessities. This is the commitment we need to make to the world, now.” Which is why this ambassador of the environment chose to partner with Concept Amenities, a world leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guest amenities.
Jean-Michel Cousteau plans to be on hand personally for global launch of the his collection at this year’s Hospitality Design Boutique Exposition & Conference at the Miami Beach Convention Center on September 14.

The use of Eco.Fresh products is another important step in achieving our environmental goals.”
According to Connie Mullerleile, procurement manager for Red Lion Hotels, the chain is reviewing additional eco-friendly guest amenities. “We constantly evaluate all the products we purchase, for guests and everyday use, to determine where we can improve in both cost and environmental impact,” explains Mullerleile.
Sound Business Forms, a family-owned printing/ distribution company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, played a key role in forging the Red Lion Hotels-Concept Amenities collaboration.
“Having partnered with both Red Lion Hotels and Concept Amenities for many years,” says Kristi Brenden, vice president at Sound Business Forms, “it seemed a natural next step to propose Concept Amenities' eco-friendly products to Red Lion Hotels' as they work to initiate environmental solutions across all properties. We’re proud to have been an integral part of the process, from design, through to distribution."
With its invigorating, citrus-fragrant ingredients the complete Eco.Fresh range of guest amenity essentials are designed to cater to all personal needs. Liquids and soaps have been formulated with essential ingredients to maintain moisture for clean and healthy skin and hair.
But according to Michael Matulick, CEO at Concept Amenities, guest amenities can be so much more than just toiletries: “For nearly 30 years, we’ve been providing the hospitality industry with the best of both worlds – environmentally responsible products and amenities that entice and delight hotels guests. But we’re not just a supplier – we’re a trusted partner who plays an integral role in shaping our customers’ brand experiences and creating a wellness space for their guests.”
An environmentally sensitive approach extends to every aspect of the hotels toiletries. Soaps are moisture rich and formulated from vegetable-based ingredients. Liquids are blended from high quality biodegradable ingredients and enriched with natural and organic extracts. All plastic packaging is eco-responsible and biodegrades completely in landfill; leaving nothing harmful to the environment behind.
“Whether its evocative new fragrances, sensual textures, exotic tastes or engaging sounds, we consider everything that can enhance our bath and body products to create unique and desirable experiences,” says Matulick.”

Las Vegas Hilton doubles down on sustainability with Concept Amenities’ eco-friendly brands
Sustainability and green business practices are more than a roll of the dice at the newly renamed LVH-Las Vegas Hotel and Casino (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton). In addition to the initiatives of its Project Green Team, the hotel will now be providing eco-friendly liquids and soaps from Concept Amenities, a global leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guest bath & body amenities.Since 1969, the Hilton has been one of the premier hotels in Las Vegas. Over the years, it has featured such legendary performers as Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand and Liberace. It has also served as a location for numerous television shows and films including the James Bond adventure, Diamonds Are Forever.
In recent years, the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino has taken the lead among local hospitality providers by revamping its operations to include such green initiatives as switching over to 98% eco-certified cleaning supplies, reducing paper usage through new technologies, using LED lights to reduce energy usage, and processing trash through a recycle belt upon collection.
“At the Las Vegas Hilton, we take being ‘green’ seriously,” the hotel told participants when it hosted this year’s ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning Engineers) Winter Conference. “Our Project Green Team has accomplished a lot since 2009 and we look forward to many more green initiatives in the years to come.”
One of those initiatives is the hotel’s new partnership with Concept Amenities. Starting in 2012, each of the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino’s 2956 rooms and 305 suites will be furnished with Concept Amenities’ popular Kudos Spa brand of liquids and soaps in ERP® (Environmentally Responsible Product); a colorful array of 40ml tubes and elegant pleat- wrapped soaps.
“We looked at many different amenity lines before choosing Kudos Spa from Concept Amenities,” said Cami Christensen, vice president of Hotel Operations, LVH. “With a 3000- room hotel, the amount of waste that we can potentially contribute to a landfill each year is staggering. Therefore, finding a company that shares our deep commitment to minimizing the harmful effects of plastics on the environment was a very important part of our decision.”
Christensen elaborated that equally important to ‘being green’ was providing a high quality amenity to guests at an affordable price for the hotel. “The appearance, fragrance and packaging can add value to our guest’s experience. Kudos Spa has the look and feel we were searching for and the quality our guests have come to expect.”
For nearly 30 years, Concept Amenities has been an innovator in providing the hospitality industry with the best of both worlds – environmentally responsible products and guestroom toiletries that entice and delight hotel guests.
But according to Michael Matulick, Concept Amenities CEO, guest amenities can be so much more than just toiletries: “We’re not just a supplier for the hospitality industry. We’re a trusted partner who plays an integral role in shaping our customers’ brand experiences. We are intrinsically linked to the creation of memorable guest experiences.”

Trump Sunny Isles creates a whole new vibe with lavish sensory experience
Trump International Beach Resort, located in Sunny Isles Florida, where International jet setters hobnob with their social equals and look forward to a 5-star guest experience, is taking hospitality to a whole new level by introducing V!VE Bathroom; a sumptuous array of sweet fig & olive guestroom toiletries meant to cater to their guests’ senses.“Sensory branding is the hottest new trend in an industry that realises today’s affluent guests have more of a “been there, done that” point of view”, explains General Manager Linda Geyer. “They don’t just want to visit a property, they want to experience it and V!VE definitely contributes to the our overall guest experience.”
Geyer elaborates that V!VE Bathroom is just the beginning; the new sensory experience at Trump will includes soothing music, evocative design and enchanting aromatherapy to help create an inviting spa experience throughout the lobby, corridors and guest rooms—even the restaurant. “Our goal is to build an unforgettable emotional association between our guests and the Trump brand through sight, sound, smell, touch and taste”, says Geyer.
V!VE Bathroom is a premium range of natural body washes, bath salts, body crème, hair shampoo, conditioning milk, soaps and candles, enriched with an abundance of natural nutrients, vitamin C and D and Aloe Vera. The gentle cleansing agents, derived from sugar and vegetable oils, deeply cleanse; nourish and moisturise the hair and skin.
The soothing and exotic aromas of sweet fig & olive provide a captivating combination. For centuries, the nutritional, cosmetic and medicinal benefits of olive oil have been recognised throughout the world and known as ‘The tree of life’ by the ancient Egyptians, the fig is a succulent fruit; viewed by the Hebrews as a symbol of peace and plenty.
V!VE Bathroom liquids are a vibrant green color, indigenous to the wholesome ingredients and packaged in cylinder shaped bottles with black chrome caps—a first in the industry. The soaps are wrapped in a coordinating Mediterranean patterned green pleated tissue paper and accessories are packaged in matching patterned boxes.
And the story gets better; all plastic package and paper components are completely biodegradable and recyclable.
“The look of V!VE Bathroom is extraordinarily elegant”, concludes Geyer, “but what really sold us on partnering with Concept Amenities for our in-room toiletries was the environmental aspect. We’re working to implement a wide variety of ecological initiatives throughout the resort that caters to both the needs of our upscale clientele and the global community”.
Cheney Brothers, one of the largest Food Service Distributors in the South, cemented the relationship between Trump International Beach Resort and Concept Amenities. “We knew that eco-friendly products were very important to the Trump Sunny Isles location,” said Bill Foley, president at Cheney Brothers. “Whether its biodegradable trash can liners; locally grown herbs or 5-star guest amenities, most clients today seek to incorporate environmentally responsible products into their properties and we work to partner with innovative companies, like Concept Amenities, who offer the cutting-edge goods and services that meet our client’s expectations.”

Concept Amenities unveils bold new branding
Melbourne, Australia October 31, 2011 – Concept Amenities, a global leader in the supply of environmentally responsible guest bath amenities, has a refreshing, new look. It’s all part of a rebranding campaign that puts a brand new face to a company whose cutting-edge concept driven attitude and eco-crusader philosophy remains as constant as ever. But there’s more to Concept Amenities’ rebranding effort than just the lush new colors and sleek minimalistic style of everything from product packaging to promotional materials.
“At the heart of our mantra is our brand essence,” says Michael Matulick, CEO at Concept Amenities. “It’s a single thought that encapsulates the soul of who we are. It expresses clearly what our brand stands for in a simple and powerful manner. It underpins our fundamental promise to clients. And that brand essence is – creatively inspired sensory indulgences.”
For nearly 30 years, Concept Amenities has been an innovator in providing the hospitality industry with the best of both worlds – environmentally responsible products and amenities that entice and delight hotel guests.
But according to Matulick, guest amenities can be so much more than just toiletries: “We’re not just a supplier to the hospitality industry. We’re a trusted partner who plays an integral role in shaping our customers’ brand experiences. We are intrinsically linked to the creation of memorable guest experiences.”
Matulick points to rising customer expectations and the quest for more indulgent pampering as something that inspires Concept Amenities to continually innovate its products and services: “Whether its evocative new fragrances, sensual textures, exotic tastes or engaging sounds, we consider everything that can enhance our bath and body products to create unique and desirable experiences.”
To that end, Concept Amenities recently introduced several new brands to its extensive range of quality products. These include Pure Beach, Linden Leaves, Australian Organics and The Luxury Collections comprised of the aforementioned brands, plus established brands French Connection, MOR, V!VE and Jean-Michel Cousteau by Marcoid.
And, in keeping with Concept Amenities’ brand values, an environmentally sensitive approach extends to every aspect of its products. Soaps are moisture rich and formulated from vegetable-based ingredients. Liquids are blended from high quality biodegradable ingredients and enriched with natural and organic extracts. Packaging is constantly reviewed to ensure it is as eco-responsible as possible.
“We are decreeing a bold aspiration for the Concept Amenities brand,” says Matulick. “It expresses our brand values and our view of the world that drives us day in and day out. It also expresses the way we strive to make a positive difference in the lives of each other and our clients.”
About Concept Amenities
Our environmental stewardship is a fundamental expression of our values. This is enhanced with ERP—the leading benchmark for Environmentally Responsible Products—, which is biodegradable, and recyclable, with a care for the environment.
